Wizards, princesses and sword fighting highlight St Mark’s Medieval fairePosted on May 27, 2009 10:39 am Paladin Music & Entertainment, Inc. presents a full weekend of entertainment and education at the annual "NJ Family Medieval & Fantasy Festival", at St. Mark's Church Concert Field, 59 Spring Lane, Long Valley on June 13 and June 14 from 12- 6 pm rain or shine. This year's Festival features live magical performances by The Wizard Mark A.S. Dolson, who promises to will thrill and mesmerize children and adults alike with his magical feats. Your festival day includes troubadours, sword fighting tournaments and educational demonstrations by the Adrian Empire of NJ, Phoenix Swords of MA, and the Morris Fencing Club, as well as free games for the children, castle bounce house, scavenger hunts, poetry. Enjoy musical performances by The Renaissance Players, aka The Bawdy Buccaneers, a unique and talented musical group. They have performed the New England Festival circuit entertaining hundreds with their melodic and whimsical songs. We are proud to be hosting The Renaissance Players at the NJ Medieval Festival where they'll be premiering songs from their recent CD and mingling in the crowds in between sets! Enter your prince and princess in the children's costume contest - the mysterious Paladin Knight will judge the winner. Those who know his story realize this is a guy with good intentions. His motto, "Good Always Wins Over Evil - but Not Without a Sacrifice!" is his testimony as a Medieval Super Hero. His message is simple: "There is a Hero in every one of us, waiting for the time when we are forced to make a choice between good and evil, ready to emerge and fight for what is right - because Heroes have the courage to do what is right. My goal is to change people's lives for the better, to help the helpless, and to give hope to people when there is none." There will be hand-made arts and craft demonstrations and sales. On site food and beverage vendors will be available. Patrons will have an opportunity to interact with participants, join in play in a scavenger hunt, interact with the villagers and become a part of the story of The Paladin Knight and his fight for what is right. This year the Paladin Knight is proud to welcome special guests The Barony of Settmour Swampfrom The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). These costumed historical re-enactors will demonstrate real medieval weapons, swords, fencing and archery. Don your finest medieval or fantasy garb and join the fun. No carry-in food or beverages, or pets are allowed inside the festival area. Any patrons in costume must have all related props or weapons peace tied, or those items will be removed prior to entry and returned upon departure. Admission at the Gate is $12 per adult. Children age 5 -12 are $10; under five are admitted free. Advanced tickets are available online at a discount. Vendor inquiries welcome.
