Frequently Asked Questions

How do I edit something I posted?

Business Listing - Fill out the email form below your listing and the system will email you a link to edit your listing.

Calendar - Click on your event on the calendar and click on Change Event on the bottom right.

Classified - Click on Edit Classified Ad link that is below your ad. If you changed computers or deleted your cookies, simply fill out the contact form for your ad and you will be emailed a link to edit your listing.

Forum - Editing is not available, but if you are the latest post in a thread and it was recently posted, you can copy your post, press the 'Delete?' link on the bottom left and then paste/re-post your message with the changes you want to make.

What are "sticky" topics?

These are set by moderators and are used to highlight specific posts so they are easy to find.

This usually consists of timely events (traffic or emergency), information that many people are looking for (parade or carnival) or events that have originated on the site (happy hour or lunches).

Why is my post not showing?

This site uses a combination of algrithimic methods and human moderation to keep things civil and fun for everyone. 99% of the time your post is not showing up for one of the following reasons:

  • Waiting for Moderation - Posts from new users require approval before showing up on the site. This could take up to a few hours depending if volunteers are available to review it.
  • Duplicate Topic - Try searching for your topic before you post.
  • Advertisement - If the topic is better suited for the calendar, classified or business section of the site, it will be removed. If someone is looking for a particular product/service, this rule does not apply.
Example: If someone asks where to get bacon and you own a bacon emporium, please feel free to post an honest plug for yourself.
  • Link with No Info - Copying/Pasting a link to the site without any description on what the link is about.
  • Copyrighted Material - Copying/Pasting an entire article from another web site will be deleted. Copy/Paste a link with a brief description instead.
  • Inappropriate Topics - This is a family web site, so excessive language or adult topics will be removed.
  • Ad hominem Post - Personal attacks or mean spirited posts will be removed.
  • Suspicious Activity - Changing names, pretending to be someone else, soap boxing or any other activity that is perceived as suspicious will be removed.

In some cases, humans need to make an editorial decision, so it's not always perfect, but we try our hardest.

Why is one town site more active than another?

Each community web site was created at a different time and some with more marketing than others. This has resulted in a huge amount of growth for some while others remain a bit quiet. All of these sites do have visitors, but without people posting some people are afraid to jump in.

If you have a question or comment about a town that doesn't appear active, why not get the conversation started?
