Nice work if you can get it...
Last night the West Morris Regional High School BOE approved a position for John Notte, the former President of the BOE to direct traffic at WMC for $35/hr. They justified the position by saying that there were no benefits but since Mr. Notte is a retired teacher his benefits of medical care and a very comfortable pension are already being taken care by the taxpayers. They also said that they had to pay that amount because no one else would take the job at a lesser amount. Guess they haven't seen the unemployment numbers in this state...And they wonder why taxpayers vote down school budgets.
Nepotism, it's no surprise. This is the same group that took five years to build he HS addition that was 2 million dollars over budget.
Let's not forget the broken promise of a geodesic dome over the gym.
Start the investigation....
OMG, I'm absolutely disgusted. Made me sick to read this and shame on the BOE! I would have done it for 1/2 that. Think our Govenor needs to hear about this. Just disgusting.
Was that job opening actually posted? Where & when?
@S.luftig to answer your question, NO. i have confirmed that that the job was only offered to notte no one else. My next question is will this job give ex-teachr notte a bigger pension too?
Now that the budget has passed at the next BOE meeting on Monday, May 23 the BOE will vote to increase Mr. Notte's hours from 2 hours per day to 5 hours per day to monitor the parking lot at $35/hr. No notice was ever posted of this job when it was given to Mr. Notte and it was not offered to anyone else. At the time the superintendent said that no one would take the job because the pay was so low. Does he really believe that no one else would apply for a job that will now pay $31,500, (180 days at 5 hours per day at $35/hr) to patrol the parking lot?
Well, to me (& I honestly thing most other people as well), $35/hour is wonderful.....maybe not to the superintendent, who makes a hefty salary.
I know a whole lot people who would have jumped at this opportunity. It's ridiculous pay for monitoring a parking lot. Leave it to the BOE. I always vote No and this is just one of the reasons why.
