interviewing preschools

Hi, I have an interview with both the Long Valley Christian Nursery School and the Friendship Center at Schooley's Mtn.
Does anyone have comments regarding either school?

I am not familiar with Friendship Center, but LVC has a good reputation.

My wife and I own Valley Brook Country Day School. We are about 5 minutes from LVC and would love to have you learn more about our school and program. You can call me at 908-876-3840. Some of our classes are already full for the fall, but others do have some openings, depending on the age of your student and number of days of school you are looking for. I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.

Valley Brook Country Day school is excellent, both my children attended their full day Kindergarten and my daughter was there for Pre-K. The teachers are very caring and creative and the 'academics' are good as well. They also have a summer camp program, Meadowbroook Day Camp, which is also top notch and loads of fun for the kids.

I have friends who have used LV Christian and Suburban Hills, in Chester, both have good reputations. I am not familiar with the Friendship Center.

HIGHLY recommend The Friendship Center. The fact that they are "intergenerational" sets them apart from the rest. One of only 7 in the entire country wherby the children work hand in hand with retirees. Simply the best. Miss Jen, the director is one in a million. You will never have to worry about leaving your child there. You are in good hands.

My DD goes to LVCNS and we love it there. Both my husband and I went there for preschool, as did the majority of Long Valley. The program is fantastic, and I like that church is introduced but not forced. Children are allowed to celebrate Christmas and Easter for what it really means, and it isn't just "Red and Green Day" or "Bunny Day" as I've seen in other schools. The fact that it's been around for 42 years says something for it....it works!!
Valley Brook is also a great program...I really wanted to look into it for my DD if she didn't get into LVCNS, but it is pricey:(

I totally confirm the write up on Friendship Center. A wonderful program with wonderful, caring staff - the Director is always a pleasure to deal with and knows each child and parent in the school. Being an intergenerational preschool offers a great opportunity for the students to learn and spend time with senior citizens. They have sing alongs, storytime and pen pals. It's great exposure for young children. My daughter has gone there for two years, she loves it and looks forward to going. A very "home like" feeling. They do bring some religion into their program but in a general sense - like bible stories. Just like LVCNS they celebrate Christmas and Easter....
I don't think you'll go wrong with any of the preschools mentioned in this blog.

Here is another vote for the Friendship Center - DD went there for 4 years (through Kindergarten) loved EVERY day.

However, I will say that the LVCNS is also a great choice from what I hear. I have heard very positive things about that school as well.

As Rosie mentioned, you will be in a good place with either school.

both my kids attend(ed) LVCNS. i wouldn't think twice about sending them anywhere else. the staff is spectacular, the program is one in a million and the way the school is ran is second to none. the teachers actually care about the kids, they will do anything to help your child through the school year. they work with washington township schools so your child is ready for kindergarden and prepared for what is coming. my older son has grown from a shy little boy to an outgoing little man in just the 2 years there. the school has an open door policy to all family members so you can stop by whenever you want. they are also an accredited school. the staff has helped me through some hard times and everyone is treated like a family member not just a number. plus, every teacher knows all the kids names and who their parent is. i have met wonderful friends from my son(s) attending, and so have my children. i also like the idea that it is a school not a daycare facility. the children actually learn and it isn't about having your child being babysat. i can't say enough wonderful things about them!!
