"No Flea Market in our Valley" Signs
They are trying to move a weekly Lions Club flea market to a space on West Mill Road near the middle school. Apparently, it will create a ton of traffic, which is good for businesses, but bad for anyone who lives near Route 24. The flea market used to be held in Chester, I think, and no one appreciated the amount of traffic and headaches it caused there. They were forced to move to Dover after a while and now they are trying to come here. Go to www.NJ.com and search under Long Valley and flea market.
Found a good article about it:

I think the flea market would be a great idea, especially for the restaurants in the Valley. There have been enough businesses going out thanks to the economy. Bringing people into the area can only help them out.
Has there been any update to the flea market? I was under the impression that this is no longer in the works, but yet I still see some No Flea Market signs out there.
Is the flea market still under discussion or are the property owners just late in taking down the sign?
The Town Committee has commissioned a committee to look into the possibility of having a Flea Market run by the Lions in town. You can check with Debbie Burd in the Municipal Bldg. if you are interested in the committee.
I hope the Flea Market never comes our way. Chester was thrilled to get rid of it. What do I care if the two or three resturants in town (owned by the same family) will do better? I live here and the last thing I want is traffic and 1000's of people congesting our quiet town.
Chester may have been thrilled to get rid of it, but businesses can no longer cut it on main street thanks to the town ousting the flea market. Haven't you noticed all the for rent signs and closing businesses over the last several years?
As far as the original question is concerned, I think for a couple of reasons the flea market will not be coming to town. Though I will say, its not just two or three resturants in town that would benefit from the market. Try everyone including residents who would benefit from the income it would bring to the town as well as the generous donations the Lions Club makes to benefit our first air, fire departments, and other community projects.
