The statistics of her life are remarkable, she raised 11 children, 21 grand children, 22+ grand children Ect.. but the unquantifiable of her life were truly extraordinary. She was the hart and sole of a farm and a community for 3 quarters of a century. She looked took care of not only her own kids but pretty much any kid that got dropped off there. She cooked more and better meals than most great chiefs. She was rebound for her ability to split all the pieces of fire wood that the men had been unable to split. She took in and raised every stray cat, puppy, calf, chicken, horse or goat that anyone dropped off at her house. She could cook almost anything from absolute scratch, including making her own vinegar, jellies, pickles, and even ketchup. Her pie's were particularly legendary. Small wonder that her thanksgiving table frequently fed as many as 60 people. She used to make pancake breakfasts that served all comers from about sunup through mid day on Sunday. She had been a good basket ball player in her youth reportedly able to beat all the guys before, as she claims, child bearing ruined her jumper. Like the Vatican, or Mecca, her kitchen was a pilgrimage destination and a place of sanctuary and support in tuff times. She drove school buses for 18 years, and loved and cared for all those kids too. She loved children above all, and managed to never be without a fresh crop of little ones to play with her entire life starting with her younger brother she raised, her 10 children, her 21 grandchildren and 22+ great grand children. Generations of children overlapped seamlessly in her life, her first grand kids were born before her last child, and her first Great Grand kids before her last grand kid. She loved and was genuinely amused by each one of them. She made them all feel like they were her favorite because when she was talking to you were. Her wisdom and sense of humor never failed. Her PG13 jokes and Ma Ort isms like “wake up and die right!”, amused generations as did her trick of flipping out her false teeth at an unsuspecting little kid for a laugh. With her own two hands, from scratch, she made life better for her family, and her community, and she smiled and laughed while she did it. She made a huge positive impact on the world with her life. She will be missed and remembered. Aspire to greatness like hers in your life.
